mmmm....Nah

Not feeling it...at least not yet... It seems like it'd be just an intro to me. Seems like you could extend it, add some sort of effects... maybe notes on soft synths to sort of add some dynamic but keep it soft and pleasant to listen to. The synth here isn't anything to me... it's like a super ambience... almost as if ignorable, like the sound of waves at a beach when you're with other people... You care so much about having fun and talking to them, that the sounds of the waves don't even seem to exist anymore...

AnubisInc responds:

Yea I was going for that kind of feeling. But I just didn't do anything else to it. And I don't think I will. Maybe someone else in the group will pick it up? But Generally I'm the ambient and relaxing guy so I doubt it. Thanks for the review.

What's the point now?

I'm confused as to the purpose of it. Is it sort of a quick explanation to the rubik's cube and that's it, or is it to be used as some sort of source material?

MorbidlyCurious responds:

pretty much. Red Harvest(NG User) made a journal asking for someone to do a narration for him, and i just read and recorded his 'script'. That narration was explaining the fundamentals behind what makes a Rubick's Cube work

Interesting. Not quite my style, but pretty good.

I like the main synth, because it kind of sounds like 3x-osc, which I like for the sake of 8-bit music. I just think it would be better if the other instruments fit the sound as well, except the background/bass acid-like synth. To me it seems like it kind of fights with the lead synth for my attention, though don't take my opinion too seriously, since what you think of it matters most, and I'm sure others have more valid opinions.

Corona688 responds:

Thanks for reviewing!

I don't know what "3x-osc" is; the main synth is simple, pure squarewave, plus vibrato. Generating a squarewave is as easy as dividing the crystal frequency so it shows up in a lot of music synth chips.

I wonder what you're listening to this tune with? The lead ought to stand out from the bass synth since it's in surround sound and the bass isn't.

I'd never thought about this as a chiptune song. I could make it more chiptuney I suppose, especially the percussion.

Wow...

It's got an ambient sound and has a beat you want to wiggle to... I haven't heard this before. Actually it's pretty good, and it keeps moving quite refreshingly. Love the synth you use too, soft yet strong enough to not be lost to the beat.

It's nice, but a bit too complex in my opinion.

Like it fits the idea quite well, instrumentally it fits the elevator music idea, but the melody seems a bit fast and kind of more like a professionally done solo or something at a live performance...on the xylophone. Which I'm also agreeing with other people too about the background synth/pad. It sounds like it's getting ready to start a James Bond movie. I can almost see this playing in an elevator just before Bond gets out, and then it would start his actual theme. Good job.

I'm liking this.

I found this through someone's favorites who favorited one of my tracks haha. I like this though. The beat gets kind of old, but I'd rather you didn't change it, since I can't see it being anything else(ironic amirite?). The melodies here are great, and sooo catchy and warm. It'd be fun to listen to on a nice sunny day. Been planning on making a mix cd for a friend filled with good music of underground artists to show him that the radio plays overrated generic crap. Might throw this in there too. :D

A bit heavy which I like.

I also like the main riff but not enough tocarry the song. I also like that sring you have going on(unless it's a slayer or plucked!) later on.

Slaytesics responds:

thnx man, it's not a slayer or plucked, I don't like those

Eh less funk more hip-hop.

At least in my opinion. It's also boring in my opinion, but I'm sure we have different tastes if you like funk. Hardly seemed Funky, based on all two sogs I have to use as examples.(lol)

I'm sorry...

I like the general composition of it in terms of the piece, but man I'm just not feeling the instruments, and the percussion doesn't seem to go well with it for me. Could use a heavy bass drum in it in my opinion, but other than that and maybe changing the synths so they don't sound so harsh would be all I can offer for advice, or opinion.

Ookami-Kun responds:

Aye, the synths and drums are just based on presets for now, I'm gonna tweak the shit out of them. This was just an attempt to get the composition and harmonies right. I'll definitely work on the harshness though, thanks.

Pretty nice.

Not going to lie, I use FL studio but I can't do Trance, and whenever I do would be unable to keep a happy changing song like this. Sounds like it'd be decent background music. Maybe could've used a few other synths. What did you use for the piano? Was it FLkeys? I've never been able to have it sound quite that good.

Beats, I make them.
Compliments, I take them.
Expectations? I hope to break them.
